Liminal Times

We are in a liminal period. I don’t think most realize what is the transitioning aspect. At least the talking heads don’t understand.

It’s not about AI, it’s a bigger issue than that. AI is just about keeping stock prices high for tech stocks right now. Real value isn’t being made yet.

I’m talking about the way we relate to work. I guess depending on your take, it is either good or bad that I have free time to look around. Normally I am heads down in a problem and solving it, when I don’t have one, I look at everything.

Work sucks. The work world doesn’t work for most people. We are still using an industrial era models on a knowledge era workforce. Then you add in what people call late-stage capitalism (nothing capitalistic about it) and you get a mess.

In the 1970’s, they said we will have a 3-day work week by now thanks to automation. Instead, we work longer for less money and everything costs more. I am all for the companies that change their ways and adjust so people can make more money, have more time, and use automation to give people the freedom to live life more. Instead, we get hustle culture which is just industrial era thinking.

Again, liminal time, how are you changing the world to adapt for the future and not cling to the past? Innovation has always been the best offense for any company. Changing the relationship to allow people to do more for themselves is really going to be a competitive advantage for any company. The alternative is rather dystopian.
